Tennis elbow is actually called lateral epicondylitis. The muscles that extend the wrist all attach at the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. Sometime these muscles can get inflamed and or "pulled" away from their insertion. This is called "tennis elbow" because it happens often to people that over-exert these muscles playing tennis. The flip side of this is another condition called "little leaguers(sp)elbow" which involves all the flexors of the wrist that attach to the medial epicondyle. The best treatment is to rest these muscles, discontinue the activities that irritate the area, and possibly see a good massage therapist to do some transverse friction massage. Thanks for the question and good luck.
